The Arrow Point Story
I've been wanting to start a blog about all of our adventures in real estate and home improvement, but haven't known where to start. So I'm starting at the beginning. If you're reading this you've heard our spiel. We are a husband and wife team doing something with houses! Lets get specific! I'm Chaussee and my husband is Peter Ellis. We have been married for 11 years, and along the way we have had 4 amazing children.
We live in Bonney Lake Washington. We have been a part of this community for the last 9 years. In 2014 we had our 3rd baby which set in motion this new business venture. In 2015 Peter got his real estate license. We had outgrown our townhome in Bonney Lake. There was this amazing new neighborhood being built not to far from us. Tehaleh was our dream neighborhood, so we decided to try and move. We met with mortgage brokers, and other real estate agents, who said we wouldn't be able to sell our townhome for what we needed to purchase a more expensive home in Tehaleh. So Peter took matters into his own hands. He used his real estate know how to figure out how much an updated home sold for in BL. He figured out that if we did some simple updates to our home we could sell it for more. Which meant we could afford our dream nieghboorhood!
So we got to work designing our update. Now you've all heard it said "kitchens sell homes". We updated our kitchen by painting our brown cabinets white, adding hardware, white quartz countertops and a full height glass subway tile backsplash. Peter leveled our two tier island and created a custom concrete countertop for it! I painted a custom stencil on the kitchen walls. Peter switched out our flush mount lights above the island for pendant lights, and added a new chandelier in the dining space.
We added engineered hardwood through out our main level. The hardwood was also added to the powder room. Peter came up with the idea to do a rustic wood wall in the powder room along with painted cabinets and a concrete countertop for the vanity. The last projects where painting the walls a neutral color and giving the fireplace some character. The top of the fire place got the same reclaimed wood as the powder room. The mantel was painted white and we added some reclaimed wood look tile to cover the ugly brown tile on the fireplace hearth.
Any guesses on what other room sells homes? Yep you guessed it the master suite! Of course that was our next project. The room got a fresh coat of paint, with a stencil on the wall. Then we moved into the master bathroom. We added a new wood tile floor. The cabinets were painted white, and Peter made another concrete countertop. I painted the brown tile on our large soaker tub gray. Then Peter put up faux weinscoting on the walls. I painted the lower portion of the wall a dark gray. Then the upper portion of the wall was a light aqua blue color with a custom stencil. The Last touch was to switch out the can light for an awesome chandelier.
Once our (not so mini anymore) remodel was complete we placed an offer on a home in Tehaleh!!! Then we put our house up for sale! To keep this blog short, Our home ended up selling just below our asking price, which was 40k more than we would have sold for before the updates ! We were able to buy our new home with no problems at all.
Thus Arrow Point Design was born!
We took this idea of a homeowner updating their home to sell for top dollar and started to create a business around it. Peter is your real estate agent for selling and buying your home. I'm the designer and stager. I make sure your home is ready to go when its time to sell. Our business strategy is to come into your home and help you decide what things need to be updated to sell your home for top dollar. Next our crew comes in to get these renovations done. Lastly we clean up, stage, photograph, and sell your home. We have had the opportunity to do 5 arrow point design homes. We are so thankful for those clients that trusted us with their homes and dreams.
So thank you to all of those clients you know who you are!
Now we are expanding our business, along with our all inclusive real estate, we have the arrow point design way to sell a home and we are now flipping homes. Stay tuned for more blog post about our business and all of our diy projects around our own home. Leave a comment and tell me what you want to hear about from us!
